Whispering Willows - The Weaver

Wassail Theatre and The Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre are looking to cast their forthcoming production Whispering Willows, a new play without words that explores the history of Somerset’s Willow industry that will tour Somerset in May/June 2021. The engagement includes a one-week period of R&D. 


We’re currently seek to cast the role of:


The Weaver

Playing Age: 25 +

Gender: Any

Ethnicity: Any

Skills: Experience in Puppetry (table top and rod puppetry) and storytelling; Devising. 


Please highlight all relevant puppetry experience in your application.



R&D:  22nd - 26th March

Rehearsal:  10th - 28th May

Performances*: 31st May  - 12th June


All activity occurs in Somerset. Due to ongoing COVID restrictions we’re particularly keen on hearing from applicants based in Somerset or the South West.


Fee: £3,000.

*Includes performances at the Willows & Wetlands Centre, Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre, and West Somerset Schools.  Additional occasional performances for audiences in rural communities in Somerset are currently being considered, between 13 June - 30 September.  These will form an additional contract and separate fee.
